What these terms cover

These terms apply to this website and to the Keychange application. There is nothing to sign up for, no account and no payment, so no contract for supply is concluded by downloading the app.

Licence

Keychange is free software under the MIT licence. That licence, not this page, governs what you may do with the software: you may use, copy, modify and redistribute it, including commercially, provided the copyright notice and licence text are retained. Where this page and the MIT licence differ on the software itself, the MIT licence applies.

No warranty

Keychange is provided free of charge and as is, with no warranty of any kind, as set out in the MIT licence. In particular I do not promise that it is free of defects, that it will work with every keyboard or every input source, or that it will keep working after a macOS update.

Liability

I am liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and wherever liability is mandatory under statute, including the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence I am liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation, and then limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of use. Any further liability is excluded.

This clause does not narrow any right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by agreement.

Permissions the app asks for

Keychange needs Input Monitoring permission to see which keyboard a keystroke came from, and optionally Accessibility permission for the “Intercept keystrokes” setting. You grant these yourself in System Settings and can withdraw them there at any time. What the app does with them is described in the privacy policy, and the source is public.

Third-party components

Updates are handled by Sparkle, which is MIT licensed. Downloads and update checks are served by GitHub, under GitHub's own terms.

Changes

These terms may change, for instance if the app gains a feature that needs describing. The version published here at the time you download applies to that download, and the date at the top says when it last changed.

Applicable law

German law applies. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
